Tourism
In the year ended December 2003, there were 1,201,200
visitors to Fraser Coast. Of these, 68% were intrastate
visitors (815,000), 17% were interstate visitors (203,000)
and 15% international visitors (183,200).
In the same period 4,958,344 visitor nights were spent
in the Fraser Coast. Of these 53% were spent by intrastate
visitors (2,631,000), 31% by interstate visitors (1,546,000)
and 16% by international visitors (781,344). (Source:

Transport
In 2005 HBCC completed an $11m upgrade to the city's airport. There were 2,496 passengers moving through the
Hervey Bay Airport in the month of June 2004, a 28.3%
increase when compared to the corresponding period
in 2003. Passenger growth at Hervey Bay Airport should
continue in the future, especially since direct flights from Sydney to Hervey Bay commenced in 2005 with plans for direct flights from Melbourne in 2006.
