The most recent ABS Australian Business Register indicated there were a total of 10,979 business entities registered in Hervey Bay in January 2009, 1,165 of which were registered in 2008.

The largest proportion of business entities in Hervey Bay were contained within the construction industry (17.7%), followed by property & business services (15.6%), agriculture (14.7%) and retail trade (13.4%).
