There were 55,113 persons residing in Hervey Bay City in 2006, an increase of 5.3% from the population level in 2005.

Projections indicate that by 2011 the expected population of Hervey Bay City will reach between 59,000 - 63,600.

The city is expected to remain as one of Australia's fastest growing Seachange cities over the next 25 years.
